Sadly, ALL free DC Public Library classes have been discontinued

The following classes,
initially scheduled for
Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library,
are cancelled as of October 4, 2017:
October 18, November 15, December 20,
2018: January 17, February 21, March 21, April 18, May 16

As many of you know, for several years I have been donating my time to provide free T'ai Chi classes to the DC community through our public library system.
Through library personnel, I have just received word from the
DC General Counsel's office that the DC Government Office of Risk Management has recently decided to require teachers of free classes to indemnify, at their own expense, DC Government and the DC Public Libraries by adding these to their personal liability insurance. I have provided T'ai Chi classes at scores of private and government locations for over a decade, and this is far from typical. The usual practice is that teachers and the organizations they partner with each secure their own separate liability insurance policies. Moreover, my policy is specifically for individuals who are fitness and health educators, requiring proof of certifications; it is not a policy for institutions or organizations such as DCPL and DC Government. I would have liked to continue to offer these services to our community through the DC Public Libraries, but it seems highly impractical for me personally to obtain an insurance policy on behalf of DC Public Libraries and the DC Government.

My deepest apologies for any inconvenience this may bring to you.
